According to the Duke University Fuqua School of Business Career Management Center, 93 percent of full-time students from the class of 2011 have received job offers three months since graduation. This is an 11 percent increase from the class of 2010 and a 14 percent rise from the year before. Not only are more students getting jobs soon after graduation, but they are making more money as well. The mean 2011 full-time salary is up six percent to $107,833 per year with a mean $25,946 signing bonus up 18% from the previous year. While job offers seem to be up across the board at Fuqua, the consulting industry in particular shined, capturing 30% of the graduating class up 10 percent from the year before. Deloitte alone hired 35 graduates and 26 interns from Fuqua.

Ed Miliband is being urged by a key adviser to halve the number of universities in Britain and replace the rest with vocational institutions if Labour wins power.

The plan by the academic Lord Glasman would see elite universities stripped of their medical, legal and accountancy schools which would be transferred to the new colleges. This, he said, would remove any suggestion that the vocational skills were “second class”.

In wide-ranging comments – which will be seized upon by Labour critics – Lord Glasman also suggested that Polish people should be banned from working in Britain, said that Mr Miliband “loathed the humiliation of people” brought about by capitalism, and that Westminster should become the seat of a new English Parliament with the British Parliament relocated to the North of the country.

The peer is the intellectual leader of Blue Labour, a new group within the party engaged in a battle with its right for Mr Miliband’s ear as the party attempts to formulate new policy in the run up to 2015.

Attending or helping to plan the Social Enterprise Clubs “Think Social, Drink Local” marquee fundraiser is one of many avenues that aspiring, socially conscious MBAs will find to fulfill their interests while at NYU Stern. With help from corporate sponsors, the event raises money for the schools Social Venture Fund, a student-run fund that awards grants to nonprofits focused on educational services in the NYC area.

Sowhat exactly are we trying to get at? Well, although NYU Stern is perhaps not well known among the top MBA programs for sustainable enterprise or social entrepreneurship, the school actually offers an array of resources for those interested in pursuing careers in these fields. The Stewart Satter Program in Social Entrepreneurship serves as the hub of all socially entrepreneurial activities and events at the school, and in 2008, Stern introduced a Social Innovation and Impact specialization, thereby formalizing an academic track for students with this career path in mind.

Outside the classroom, through Stern Consulting Corps, students can partner on consulting projects with New York City–based nonprofits such as the William J. Clint
