Sweepstakes Introduces VELCRO Brand Memo Boards and Offers Students Up to $5,000 in Prizes

Memo Boards Offer a Fun and Fashionable Way to Personalize and Organize Students’ Living Space

For the first time ever, Velcro USA Inc. hosts a Get Back To School with VELCRO brand fasteners sweepstakes, leveraging the brand’s Facebook page, to introduce VELCRO brand Memo Boards fun display boards that are perfect for students looking to personalize their living space this fall.

The sweepstakes, which offers up to $5,000 in prizes, kicks off with a custom Facebook application housed on the VELCRO brand page. The application guides students to a microsite to show off their creativity by designing a ‘virtual’ VELCRO brand Memo Board and writing a memorable 100-word story describing the adventure depicted on their board.

“We know Facebook plays an important role in the lives of our young adult consumers and we are very excited to expand the brand experience through an integrated Facebook sweepstakes,” said Lynn Connors, Product Manager, Velcro USA said. “The Get Back To School with VELCRO brand fasteners sweepstakes gives us a fun way to interact with our young adult consumers, while offering them a unique brand experience.”

The sweepstakes, which is accessible through QR codes on product packaging found at retail locations and via the official brand Facebook Page, will take place from July 13, 2011 to September 25, 2011. With a visit to the sweepstakes microsite, students will get asked to “Like” the brand’s page for a chance to view a gallery of memo boards that have already been submitted, and to vote for their favorite entries. They also have the opportunity to vote every day, and are encouraged to rally their friends to help vote for their boards.

“By leveraging our VELCRO Brand Facebook page, we are empowering students to like, vote and share their boards with their circle of friends for a chance to win,” Connors said.

One first place prize, three second place prizes and six third place prizes will be awarded based on the number of votes each entrant receives. Every winner will receive 20 VELCRO brand Dorm Survival kits to share with friends.

Winners will be notified by phone and will be announced through the VELCRO brand fasteners Facebook page the week of October 10, 2011.

This month, just in time for back-to-school, Velcro USA rolls out the new line of Memo Boards available at Office Depot stores, Walmart.com and Amazon.com
